NeoOffice.org has decided to apply to become a premium sponsor of OOoCon 2006. Assuming we're approved, both Patrick and I look forward to meeting you in France for the first annual Neo drink-a-thon to be held at some French bar that doesn't serve Orangina.

Nifty! Showing off all that NWF/vcl hacking to the crowds Wink (and, presumably, to any Mac-using bureaus of the French government stopping by while considering their switch to ODF-capable software)....

It's funny...helping to sponsor a conference is not usually how people respond to their cvs access being terminated Wink

Unfortunately I won't be able to attend, but it sounds like a great opportunity for all our European users and regulars to meet up....

Who needs luck? Hopefully the process of approving sponsors is apolitical Smile Unfortunately I'm not so good at counting chickens, so who knows.

No worries Smile If we do get approved, any European regular who knows any good bars around Lyon is of course welcome to lend a hand in organization of the impromptu drink-fest. My knowledge of France is really limited to Paris, so any help is appreciated. Heck, I may even be able to bring some good Santa Barbara wines and show y'all a thing or two...

Great !

Lyon is close to Geneva, so if all goes well I'll be there.

I have very little knowledge of Lyon, but I have family there. What kind of bar are you looking for ?

Nothing special. Since the evening activities will be impromptu (i.e. whomever decides to show up), I would think any bar that serves food, beer, and wine that is reasonably close to the conference and can handle a dozen or so people without much problem would be OK.

The idea is that Ed and I can tell people who drop by our booth where to meet up at the end of the day. Most likely Monday will have good attendance and Tuesday a bit less.

That shouldn't be so difficult to find. I'll post back if I learn about a suitable place.

Like patrick said, totally an informal thing. The main goal is to have fun Smile I've never been outside of Paris myself, so I think it'd be a fun place to go. There's nothing like getting drunk in a bar that's older than your entire country.

If you want to see Paris again, you may want to attend the Apple Expo Razz

There are some Irish pubs in the Vieux Lyon but I don't think the buildings are older than America Razz
But they're nice. Where does OOoCon takes place?

Apparently INSA Lyon (note the webmaster did not provide an anchor/id for the "The place" H2, only for the "prices" H2 above it and the H3 below it for "Lyon and the area" Razz)
