|
I'm trying to set up a templet that will allow people to write feature screenplays with NeoOffice. (It's outrageous what they charge for dedicated screenwriting software. But unfortunately poor film students keep paying for it.)
It works pretty good but one feature that seems to be missing from NeoOffice that is in Microsoft word is the ablitity to set a style so that it will change to another style in the next paragraph. That is, I set up a style for a slug line (which describes where a scene takes place) and once the user types in the slug and hits return, it should then shift to "scene" style.
Am I missing something? Can NeoOffice do this?
The other thing that would be nice on a wish list is to set a paragraph so that it stays linked to the paragraph above it. This is something you can't do in Word (you can only ask to stay linked to the paragraph below) but would be a great feature for NeoOffice.
Also, the style menu is pretty good, but it would be nice if buttons could be created and placed individually in a menu to active a particular style. |

You can create a style to follow on another. When you modify a style, go to the 'organiser' tab. Just below the style name is the next one that is to follow. Usually this is set to be the same one but after a heading, for instance, it is set to change to text body by default.
Good luck,

If you can read Italian, Français or Español go to our wiki (English page is not yet ready).
Anyway, edit a paragraph style and go to the Organizer tab to choose what paragraph style has to follow the current.
We have no possibilities to set automatically the previous paragraph style.

Thanks for the help! Great to know it can be done, but I'm still trying to figure it out. I can't seem to find the organizer tab. Is that the Styles and Formating window?
Sorry if I seem a little dense! |

Don't worry, you wouldn't be asking the question if you were dense
Basically, you place your cursor anywhere in the paragraph you want to change [or the one before] You do a right-click [or ctrl-click] to bring up a context menu and you select in that context menu "Edit Paragrph Style" That brings up the window with the Organizer tab. If you click on Organizer, you should find your way from there. Press OK to save your change and finish. Hope that helps

This is not related with the topic of this 3d, but I have to thank the person who has corrected my previous post. I have seen the errors but wasn't able to get to trinity for a while.
So just thank you.

Just an aside here...
You might want to check out Celtx. It's open source, cross-platform, free, and includes several pre-production tools you won't find in Final Draft.

We have an idiom in italian that says something like this
"it's better to stay silent and look dumb, instead of say something to remove any dubt"
Hope that make sense.

Valter | Funny,
We have the same idiom in English!
Philip ( wishes he could remain ... silent, more! ) |

Wow! Celtx is incredible. Just what I was looking for. I was trying to help out screenwriters in Afghanistan. It's perfect!
Thanks so much. You guys have all been great! |
