Hi!
I created a database with Neooffice and now I can't add new rows to the table. Someone knows how can I do it?
I tried to create a form for the table but it's "read-only" and I can't find any way of change it.

Thanks!

Lorinda wrote a series of tutorials that you can find here in NeoWiki.
She will be able to help you. In the meantime, you may have a look at these tutorials.

Some questions for you:

1) Are you working with an embedded database. That is, did you build the tables in Base?. (as opposed to connecting to a spreadsheet, a MySQL file, etc.)

2) Do your tables have primary keys? You cannot edit tables if the tables do not include primary keys.

3) Exactly how did you create the tables and their current data?

As a side note, forms always open as "Read Only" unless you open them in Design View. This is because unless you are in design view you cannot edit the form controls. You can still enter data in the fields, though, if the forms fit the following criteria:
a) the form must be based on a table, not a query
b) the table must be part of an embedded database or a in a external source that allows editing. You cannot edit data in Base documents that connect to a spreadsheet. (You must add/edit the data in the spreadsheet document)
c) the form must be set to allow data entry and editing. (by default, forms are)

I feel a new wiki page (separate from the tutorial) coming on....

I've stubbed it is as "Read-Only Forms and Difficulty Editing Data" on the New Articles Needed page.

Hi Lorinda,

I set one of the columns to be the primary key and now I can add new entries. Thanks a lot for your help!
I think I created it using Base (just opened NeoOffice and select "new database") and I used the Wizard.

Thanks again!
