I found by accident that I need to select the area for scanning by clicking and drawing out the shape, before the "scan' button becomes available. This is the way that Image Capture works [is it the same for other scanners?], it has nought to do with Neo. Works fine now Wink

The Neo code actually doesn't affect the scanner or its user interface at all; any quirks in the GUI for the scanner need to be directed at the scanner's manufacturer. I think that's going to be the achilles' heel of imagecapture for both Neo as well as OS X in general as most folk spend their time on photoshop plugins, not imagecapture plugins.
