Hello everyone,

Can I put a logo I have for a header on a spreadsheet? If so, how would I do this?

Thanks,
bmg30

found this thread in the OOo forums...not a programmer though so not really sure how to implement it. maybe patrick or ed could add their expertise.

Hi bmg30. While in some places it is regarded as not possible to put a graphic into a header for Calc, there is at least one way to achieve it without using programming. I'd ask other members of the forum to double-check my work here, because I've just nutted this out tonight. This is also easier than it will at first sound Wink

You need to size your graphic [lets say a logo] first. Say you want it to be 1 cm in height, then make sure it's that height first. Then set up your worksheet. Format your Page by going to the Format dropdown menu and selecting Page... In the window that opens, select the Header tab. Make the Height measurement 1.8 cm or more and click on the button More... in the new menu window. Select the Background tab. Click on the dropdown button at the top so that you have selected As Graphic. That will give you a chance to Browse to your logo file and Open it. The logo should now appear in the Preview window. From the three items at the bottom of the Background window, select Position as your Type. Now use the diagram at the right of the window to place your graphic within the header [let's say we put it at the centre, because we want it to appear in the middle of the header].

Click OK at this point, and you have your logo in your header, and should be back in the window where you selected the Header tab. But you will possibly also have writing in the header at this stage, so now select Edit and you will see three small windows across, representing the left hand, middle and right hand parts of your header. Remove the writing that will clash with your logo [ie if you placed your logo in the middle of the page, remove at least the writing in the middle, otherwise both the text and the logo will be printed in that location of the header, one on top of the other]. Then click OK twice, and you're finished there.

You can check your work by inputting some data into your worksheet and clicking on Page Preview. Select Close Preview to go back to your worksheet.

If this is OK and you want to use this logo approach again, I suggest you do a Save As.. and select NeoOffice...Template.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks so much, Peter! I've added a link to your post on the New Articles Needed page of the wiki.
