FYI. In order to fix bug 3111, I optimized NeoOffice's code that controls clipping when printing. Just to make sure that I have introduced any obvious crashing or drawing bugs, can anyone install the following test patch and try selecting the Preview button in NeoOffice's print dialog and verify that NeoOffice 1) does not crash and 2) that the output that appears in the Preview application still looks OK?:

PowerPC:

Printing seems to work fine with this patch. However, when comparing the output of a PDF print with that of Export as PDF, I found that bold and italics are broken in Export as PDF again.

After rolling back to 2.2.3 and applying patches and test patches one by one, I found that the issue was introduced between 2.2.3 Patch 5 and 2.2.3 Patch 5 Test 3 (don't have Test 1 or Test 2).

The issue is easily reproducible for me in a new document; just add a few word in bold or italics, and export to PDF via the toolbar icon: in the resulting PDF, the characters will all be regular (no bold or italics).

Thanks for catching that problem. I have fixed the bold/italics issue when exporting as PDF in the following test patch:

PowerPC:

Intel:

Hi,

I have tested with different fonts, no problem at all.

Just curious.... if you ask people to try certain patches here to help you sort through issues. how does one get back to where one was before they installed it? also if there is a serious bug - then what? how do we get functionality back? Thanks.

Reload the official patch to roll back from the test patches.

To follow the example above; NeoOffice-2.2.3 Patch 5 Test 7 is available. If after loading it you decide you do not want it for any reason, reload NeoOffice-2.2.3 Patch 5. However once NeoOffice 2.2.3 Patch 6 is released and loaded on your machine there is no going back to Patch 5.

Hope that helps,

Thanks - I wasn't sure since I knew that you could not go back as such and as you had stated, that is why I had to ask.
