I have been experiencing some crashing in Base, which has been hard to pin down. This, however, has now been repeatable. I attach a Base file. Here are the steps
  • open the file and select Forms if necessary
  • Ctrl-click on Add to Books Catalogue and select Edit from the contextual menu.
  • Click on the Price field beneath the label to select it and then Ctrl-click
  • Choose Group>Edit Group from the contextual menu
  • Click on the field box in the group to select it then Ctrl-click
  • Choose Replace with from the contextual menu and select Currency field from the sub menu
  • NO crashes silently leaving a lock file (.lck) in the folder you have been working in.

I attach a document containing two recent crash logs.

Thank you for the detailed set of steps. I can reproduce this crash in both NeoOffice 3.0.1 and OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 so this is definitely a bug in the OpenOffice.org code.

We normally do not fix OpenOffice.org feature bugs, but since crashing bugs can potentially cause loss of data so I will see if we can fix this OpenOffice.org bug.

When I have more news to report, I will post again.

Edit by pluby: correct typos

Patrick

I just corrected my post and I had to look at my keyboard as well to figure out what I meant to write. Very Happy

FYI. I have created bug 3567 to track this crashing OpenOffice.org bug.

I think that I have fixed this OpenOffice.org crashing bug. Can you install the following test patch and tell us if my fix works for you?:

Intel:

It works for me. Great work Patrick. Less than 12 hours from report to fix. You rock!
