Many thanks once again Patrick. Which ever way one gets around the problem, I shalln't use the NeoOffice Notes facility again … I have little need for them, and was merely trying it out to see how it worked.

Keep well.

Even though I posted some workarounds, I was still interested in why this "prints notes only" setting is so "sticky" and hard to change. In theory, you should be able to select the File :: Printer Settings menu and that dialog would show "Notes only" as the selected setting so you would only have to select "None" and press the OK button.

What I found is a small OpenOffice.org bug: when your document has "prints notes only" set and you select the File :: Printer Settings menu before printing at least once, the dialog shows "None" set.

As resulting of showing "None" as the setting when the document's setting is really "Notes only", all of the difficulties that you experienced occur. Since this small OpenOffice.org bug can cause lots of pain for users, I will continue investigating this issue to see if I can fix this Printer Options dialog bug.

I think that I have fixed this OpenOffice.org bug. If you install the following test patch, you should be able to open the document that you attached earlier in this thread and then if you immediately select the File :: Printer Settings menu, the Printer Options dialog should properly show the "Notes only" as the "Notes" setting.

Can you install the test patch and confirm that the Printer Options dialog properly shows "Notes only" setting and, more importantly, that if you change the setting to "None" and press the OK button in that dialog, you can print the file? If my test patch works, it should eliminate the tangled set of steps that are currently required to enable printing:

FYI. I have included the fix for the OpenOffice.org incorrect Notes setting bug in NeoOffice 3.1.2 Patch 1. You can download the patch from the NeoOffice patch download page.
