I am working on xslx files and every time I do a "save", NO does instead a "save as" ODF.

I need to change the dialog settings to be able to save the file in its original format.

Did I mess with a setting somewhere ? Is that the expected behavior ?

Weird when I do "save" on an xlsx file I get a dialog proposing to save as ODS but when I do a "save as" on that file, I get a proposal to "save" (not "save as") xlsx...

1) this should be the opposite
2) shouldn't the dialog title for "save as" be "save as" and not "save" ?

What you are seeing is a customization that I made to NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice.org code. While saving in Microsoft Office's .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx file formats works OK for simple documents, we found that the OpenOffice.org code does not yet fully support these file formats and so saving to these file formats is much riskier than saving to NeoOffice's native .odt, .ods, and .odp file formats.

Because of this risk, when saving to the .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx file formats, my customization changes a Save operation to a Save As .odt, .ods, and .odp operation so that the default action is to save to a file format that will not have loss of formatting.

Hope that explains what you are seeing. In general, the file formats in the File Type listbox are listed in order of increasing risk of formatting loss when saving and that is why you see the .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx file formats way down at the bottom of the list.
