Two observations:

One:
- With a single writer window open
- Open the search window (Cmd-F)
- Use Cmd-` to switch between windows
- Active window switches from Document window to Search & Replace window and back.

- With two writer windows open
- Open the search window (Cmd-F)
- Use Cmd-` to switch between windows
- Active window switches from Document 1 window to Document 2 window and back. Search & Replace is never made active.

- With three or more writer windows open
- Open the search window (Cmd-F)
- Use Cmd-` to switch between windows
- Active window switches between only two of the open document windows. Search & Replace is never made active.

Two:
- Open a new writer document
- Minimise it
- Open a second writer document
- Open Search & Replace (Cmd-F)
- Minimise the second document
- Type Cmd-W
- The second (minimised) document is closed.

Is this the correct behaviour? In TextEdit with all windows minimised the File->Close menu item is disabled.
- Minimize both document windows

After amayze found some very old bugs reappear when using the Command-` keys, I have reimplemented my fix for this bug using a different approach. The new approach is to native "attach" the dialog windows with a thick titlebar to the document window. This will look the same as the last test patch. The only difference is that when you move a document window, the dialog windows with thick titlebars will be "pinned" to the document window and will move with the document window.

In the following test patch, I think that I have fixed all of the Command-` issues that amayze reported. Can you install the test patch and tell us if the Command-` issues are fixed for you?:

As for the second behavior that amayze described (see quoted description below), this is not common Mac OS X behavior but it is normal for NeoOffice.

Most "built from the ground up" Mac OS X applications have a single menubar for all windows. In contrast, NeoOffice has a separate set of menubar menus for each window due to it being based on OpenOffice.org which is, at its heart, a Windows application.

So, if all document windows are miniaturized, the OpenOffice.org code sets one of the miniaturized windows as the "focus window" and that window's menubar menus are what show in the menubar and, as a result, any key shortcuts for the menu are redirected to the matching miniaturized window.

Installed NeoOffice 3.3Beta Patch 0 Test 3.

The Search & Replace window is no longer given focus by Cmd-` regardless of the number of open windows. Smile

All of the open (and un-minimised) windows are now cycled through using Cmd-` whether the Search & Replace window is open or not. Smile

The Find & Replace window moves with the window to which it refers. Smile

I assume there is really only one Search & Replace window in NeoOffice, though it gives the appearance of having one for each window if required, as the search term is updated when you switch windows. eg.

- Open two writer windows.
- Open the Search & Replace window in each of them
- In document 1 type a search term in the Search for field
- Use Cmd-` to switch to document 2
- After half a second the search term from document 1 appears in the Search for field of document 2's Search & Replace window.

Although maybe this is a bug? If you repeat the above but enter the text in the Replace with field it is not updated in the same way and each document keeps its own text in that field.

This is not a bug. This is a regular feature of NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice.org code.

Also, note that when you switch between different document types such as Writer to Calc, the options that the More button displays changes to match the document type.

FYI. I have included the fix for the Command-` bugs in NeoOffice 3.3 Beta 2 Patch 1 which you can download from the NeoOffice 3.3 Beta 2 patch download page.
