A user discovered a new bug when running NeoOffice 2014.7: when sending a mail merge to a file instead of the printer, OS X does not allow NeoOffice to create the merged file. This bug does not affect NeoOffice 3.4.1. It only affects the version of NeoOffice in the Mac App Store and is caused by the increased security protections that Apple imposes on Mac App Store applications.

I have fixed this new bug in the following test patches so if you are experiencing this bug, install one of the following test patches.

Important note: after installing one of the test patches, selecting the File radio button and then clicking the OK button in the Mail Merge dialog may display a native Open dialog. If you see a native Open dialog, press the Open button to give NeoOffice permission to open the hyperlink's file:

We found that while the previous test patch allows sending a mail merge to a file to complete, the OS X app sandbox is not allowing NeoOffice to delete some of the temporary files that are created by the mail merge code.

I have tweaked my fix in attempt to get OS X's app sandbox to allow deletion of temporary files. My latest code changes are in the following test patches:

NeoOffice 2014.7:

NeoOffice 2014.7 Free Edition:

I found that the last test patch does not always fix the problem.

I found that NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice code will sometimes try to delete the temporary files after the code changes in the last test patch execute. To fix this, I have tweaked the OpenOffice code to try to delete the temporary files before our code changes.

My latest code changes are in the following test patches:

NeoOffice 2014.7:

NeoOffice 2014.7 Free Edition:

FYI. I have included the fix for this bug in NeoOffice 2014.8 which is available in Apple's Mac App Store.
