A user discovered a bug that causes slow scrolling. When swiping vertically with 2 fingers on a trackpad, scrolling would not be smooth. The bug would cause NeoOffice to momentarily delay scrolling.

I think that I have fixed this bug by rewriting our code that handles trackpad swiping gestures.

You can get the fix by installing one of the following test patches:

NeoOffice 2014.10:

NeoOffice 2014.10 Free Edition:

NeoOffice 3.4.1:

After doing more testing of the changes in yesterday's test patch, I still found that NeoOffice would occasionally fail to scroll after a swipe.

I think that I have fixed these remaining pauses when swiping by making our code more aggressively coalesce swipe events so that NeoOffice's event handling code does not get bogged down when the user is swiping the trackpad

You can get the latest changes by installing one of the following test patches:

NeoOffice 2014.10:

NeoOffice 2014.10 Free Edition:

NeoOffice 3.4.1:

I have made two more small changes to our swipe and scroll wheel event handling code:
  • Swiping or moving the scroll wheel very slowly will now move only a single line or row at a time. In the last test patch, the smallest possible amount of swiping or scrolling was 2 lines or rows.
  • When swiping or moving the scroll wheel rapidly, the page or row number tooltip no longer flickers rapidly. The flickering tooltip was caused by NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice code closing and reopening the tooltip after each swipe or scrolling event.
You can get the latest changes by installing one of the following test patches:

NeoOffice 2014.10:

NeoOffice 2014.10 Free Edition:

NeoOffice 3.4.1:

This morning I found that I had accidentally added a small bug in yesterday's test patches. This bug caused limited scrolling to a maximum of 2 or 3 pages when doing a full swipe.

I have fixed this bug and now a full swipe will move between 5 and 7 pages.

You can get the latest changes by installing one of the following test patches:

NeoOffice 2014.10:
http://nick.neooffice.org/test/NeoOffice-2014.10-Test-4-Intel.dmg

NeoOffice 2014.10 Free Edition:

NeoOffice 3.4.1:

FYI. I have included the fix for this bug in NeoOffice 2014.11 which is available in Apple's Mac App Store.

I have also included the fix in NeoOffice 3.4.1 Patch 15 which can be downloaded from the NeoOffice patch download page.
