While using a lengthy document in Writer, I found a bug that causes NeoOffice to freeze when you select a menu item. If you have not made any edits to a Writer document in the last few minutes and you have automatic spellchecking enabled, NeoOffice will automatically perform spellchecking on all of the words in your document. If you selected a menu item while this background spellchecking was running, NeoOffice would not stop the background spellchecking. Instead, NeoOffice would freeze and would not unfreeze until NeoOffice finished spellchecking the entire document.

I have fixed this bug and you do not need to wait until the next NeoOffice release to get the fix. You can get the fix now by downloading and installing one of the following test patches:
