I've just installed the Performance patch 1.4 and i really love the new speed. great work there.

But i've noticed some missing chars in som Equations of an imported Word Doc.

this is how the Equations look like

but when i double-Click on them they look like this

btw: using 10.4.2, Java 1.4.x update and Java 1.5 installed too.

Can you file a bug in Bugzilla and, after you file it, attach a sample document that I can import?

Also, when working with importing the Office equation editor stuff, you may need to have some patience. I use it for my own tech specs, and the equation import is one of the weaker areas of OOo in general. I haven't seen any font issues with PP1.4, but I'm also writing equations straight from NeoJ and not importing htem.

i've uploaded the file here
If you need it, i could post the .doc too

here is a PDF how it should look like

There is something else strange: in neoOffice (1.1. with Perf. patch 1.5) it says "Quantencomputer" as Title, but the real Title is longer (see filename) and for some strange reason everytime i want to edit something NeoOffice tells me the file is write Protected (i have Read/write permission for the file itself)

That's because Word decided to take the first words you typed and enter them as the "Title" metadata (File: Properties in Neo/J), and OOo, like Word, insists on replacing the filename with the "Title" metadata as the window title.

I filed that bug in OOo some time ago (once Patrick told us that it was too deeply and widely buried in the OOo code for him to fix), but like most OOo bugs I've filed on Mac OS X issues, it's gone nowhere Sad

i've just opened that .syw file in OOo 2 (rc2; Win32) and it looked fine so the import should have worked fine, but i hava MathType installed and it opened those Equations with MathType (i have it installed on my mac to, but i dont think NeoOffice can use Mathtype).

One thing I have found when chasing down various import bugs is that Word and Windows still do a lot of things related to math, Greek, bullets, and equations in a non-Unicode manner (even OOo on Windows does!), and everything looks fine on Windows, even across programs, because the same fonts are there and they are (apparently) set up to handle this archaic construction. This is one of OOo's dirty little secrets; the import doesn't translate these items to Unicode-compliant codepoints because they don't need to on Windows....

I tried to look at the OLE objects to see what was being stored there, but unlike the rest of the document, they're not UTF-8-encoded XML, and I'm not familiar with the format. Since you have the program installed on your Mac, you might try to see if it will open the OLE objects, and, if so, if they appear correctly there.
