After looking at the previous posts on hsqldb I though I'd have a stab with Neo 1.2A, and it fulfills all the steps laid out in http://hsqldb.sourceforge.net/doc/guide/apd.html

apart from the useful bit at the end where the newly created table is rendered read-only.

I've tried the linked macro script
http://dba.openoffice.org/howto/IgnoreDriverPrivileges.html
and it dosn't seem to work, I'm hoping its as simple as a configuration location in the script that needs changing?

aContext = createUnoService( "com.sun.star.sdb.DatabaseContext" ) looks supicious to my untrained eye

I don't desperatly need a relational SQL based DB (at all) I just thought it may be fun to try in the new Neo.

My apologies to the origional macro writer, it appears to work as evidenced by another macro here http://www.ooomacros.org/user.php#103772

unfortunatly, this means there is a problem in an even more esoteric place.

I realise this is becoming an increasingly monoposting thread, but this will be my final post in it I promise.

After a bit of trotting through the hsqldb mailing list I decided I'd try again but with an earlier version. It worked! I used hsql db 1.7.3.3 and I now commit this thread to the archive, may future searchers discover it and find it useful Smile

I will say now, with OpenDocument support and hsqldb, NeoOffice 1.2A appears functionaly on a par with OpenOffice 2.0 even though it may not have the speed improvements and the nice wizards Smile
