I saw this Dilbert and somehow felt here was the right audience.

Best wishes,
Oscar

Pity he doesn't mention the nascent macro/vba support too...

or things to avoid/change to increase compability with MS Word (and other solutions!),
Or that Neo is NOT a Java application (just "some" of the Mac Aqua GUI).
Or the goal of Neo is to bring OOo to Mac users, ...

Philip (Sigh, better that he spends $79 on iWork and leave the rest of us alone. Confused )

It "looks" like a nice package for the home/Small Business user. It has "some" compability with MS Office, does what most home users need (Documents, Flyers, Presentations, and now Spreadsheets). Smile

It should probably be INCLUDED with every Mac, like AppleWorks was. Confused
This would increase the value of buy a Mac even more. Seems silly to sell a home PC (Mac!) without a Office Suite.
For many it would cover "most" of their needs. YMMV

If you want a Full powered Office Suite - then you probably still want to use something like MS Office or NeoOffice / ODF. Wink

Philip ( I'm glad for options, but MS Office compability is very high on my Requirements list! Cool )

Yes, that is strange that there really has been no replacement for the free AppleWorks suite. A few people I know actually used that since it came with the machine and never had any need to look for anything else. I still miss the FileMaker Lite style database Smile

If you're curious, they do have a free trial download. It probably is the 30 day trial deal.

The situation is usually that you get the 'lite' apps for free and the heavy duty ones are paid for.

Now, on the Mac, things are reversed...

Oh, wait, I just saw a pig flying Wink.

Best wishes,
Oscar

Please can we stop taking about Appleworks, I have to use it for my job and it sets my teeth on edge. we've all lost data on that thing here. and my datalink importer stopped working and I've tried reinstalling but it still doesn't work. I'm trying to introduce Neo, but its a long and protracted process. Crying or Very sad and with the datalink thing busted I have to copy and paste stuff between them which tends to lose the formatting. arg!

I downloaded the 30-day trial version.

Numbers is good, beautiful, easy to use. Not surprising, it's Apple.

But, there is a "but": the available functions are less numerous than in Neo Calc: no database or matrix functions. I didn't find a way to graph a curve or a regression line. The number of possible charts is limited.

IMO, Numbers is not going to become a killer for NeoOffice Calc tomorrow!

And
$1 = 0.7326 €
with the usual Apple's currency converter $79 = 79 € eh, eh!

Oh, you're talking about those Apple Numbers... seems that they're still making like the US dollar hasn't fallen against just about every other currency in the last year. European customers get the worst treatment, but even in Canada, the prices seem to be based on a Canadian dollar worth 88 US cents rather than 95. (Go figure, though, they're selling iWork '08 for C$79.)

Keep in mind that Euro pricing includes tax.

US prices do NOT include tax.
