I was playing around with NeoOffice and I thought of something. I hope this is a really easy one to add:

Right now, if NeoOffice is started without getting a document (e.g. through double clicking on one), you can specify if it should show an empty Writer, Calc, Impress, Database, Draw or Math document or nothing at all.

Could you add to this the possibility of launching the window you see when you use Menu|NeoOffice|New|From template?

I think that window is a pretty easy way to get access to multiple types of new documents in very few clicks. Obviously, I only need it when I am not already opening a document.

Please let me know if this is feasible.

Best wishes,
Oscar

The good news is that since there is a menu for this in the underlying OpenOffice.org code's menus, I am pretty confident that this is feasible.

The bad news is that the existing method that we using for the NeoOffice :: Open at Launch menu cannot be used to implement your requested feature. The reason is that that menu uses the standard command line launch options that are in NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice.org code and, unfortunately, the OpenOffice.org code has no "open from template" launch option.

Since it would take some time to figure out how to implement this requested feature, I would like to see if this is something that at least 5 or more other donors also want this feature. If that many NeoOffice donors post that they also want this new feature, then we will have a pretty good level of confidence that spending the time to find a way to implement this new feature is work the engineering time that we will need to spend and I will then start working on the new feature.

Is this a feature that any other NeoOffice donors want to see added to NeoOffice? If so, please let us know.

Patrick

It seems that this feature has not attracted a whole lot of attention..Sad.
