There was some doubt over the ability to load updates to libraries without rebuilding. Doesn't the optimization of prebindings at the end of an installation provess fix this?

Right now I don't believe that Neo/J is actually using prebinding. Prebinding puts symbols in shared libraries at well-known addresses. Unfortunately, the weird COMish UNO structure of OOo assumes a specific named entry point for a component shared library that can be queried for instances and type information and the like. In the past that was what really quashed our hopes of speeding things up by using prebinding.

I have no clue if that is still the case, but most of the folks working on prebinding for OOo never were able to achieve any results Sad

see post title...

but i'm wondering, if Neo/J is installed on a different volume than the system, can this modify the update scheme?
At the end of installer process the message display "optimizing disk" and, in the background, prebinding is running on the disk where is Neo/J, not on system disk.

?
