Open Letter to Scott McNealy
Posted by OPENSTEP on Friday, February 27 @ 20:54:48 CST
GNU OK, so it seems to be the in thing this month for open source advocates to write open letters to Sun. Even more importantly, it seems that strangely these open letters are producing results given the IBM/Sun talks. Since they seem to have such a great effect on Sun, why not write our own? Read on for more or to add your signature to our 'unofficial" open letter to Sun.

An open letter to Scott McNealy, CEO of Sun Microsystems, Inc. regarding remarks made by others making comments on remarks originating at Sun's February 2004 analyst meeting. attn: Scott. Mc Nealy c/o Sun Microsystems, Inc. 4150 Network Circle Santa Clara, CA 95054 Return Receipt Requested Mr. McNealy: Send beer. Sincerely, Edward Peterlin and The Undersigned If you agree with the content and intent of our open letter to Sun, feel free to add your signature to this open letter below. (wokka wokka)

what kind of "open letter" is this?!

it is vague and misses the point entirely.

first: it is scotch not beer that is the issue.

second: the lack of a brand name seriously undermines the credibility of this letter ... i mean, brand-to-brand wise, we have sun and apple, so the idea of some generic brew seems, well, so un-mac-like.

let's get with the programme, people.

which, by way of a strained pun, introduces the question of when Sun is going to shift the code over to Java from C++ (now that the language is mature enough to avoid the premature fiasco of the Corel misadventure from a fews back).

cheers: david
