Introducing NeoLight

NeoOffice Spotlight Metadata Importer With the release of Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger" comes a new system for searching the files stored on the computer, Spotlight. This search mechanism goes beyond filename and date and allows for searches of more complex content. "NeoLight" is a metadata importer for NeoOffice/J and OpenOffice.org 1.x formatted documents. It allows for searching and indexing of these documents based upon standard OOo metadata and textual content, allowing for NeoOffice/J and OpenOffice.org to be integrated directly with the Mac OS X 10.4 Spotlight environment.

NeoLight is currently in a development stage and needs extensive testing before it could be considered for integration with a NeoOffice/J build. Source code for the NeoLight plugin is available today from the NeoOffice CVS server. A pkg installer of the binaries is also available for early Tiger adopters to begin testing on their systems. For more information on how to install the NeoLight importer and get the source code, see NeoLight page on the NeoWiki or fire away your questions in the NeoLight Development forum here on trinity.

Yay Ed! This is a very exciting development in the Neo/OOo world. I've updated the wiki article about searching with a link to your documentation and developmental version...
