Or, you can cd into the neojava directory and execute "cvs update -d". This is what I usually do.

I've never been able to get that to work. I may try it after I complete a new build cycle. I do set CVSROOT to :pserver:anoncvs@anoncvs.neooffice.org:/cvs and I successfully complete both cvs login and cvs -z3 co -r HEAD NeoOfficeJ.

Build complete with the released SRX645_m57 code and the Patch-1 'Alpha' code. Now to try the cvs update -d and see if it works.

I just did a:
cvs -z3 co -r HEAD NeoOfficeJ

But when I do:
cd neojava
cvs update -d

I get a bunch of:
cvs server: Attempt to add reserved tag name HEAD

Is this normal?

I'm running 10.4 and would like to try to build the version which will be based on OOO 2.0. Is there a wiki page or some build directions which I missed?

Yes, this is normal.

It will be a long time before there is a version of Neo/J that will contain OOo 2.0 code. This is not due to any shortcomings of Neo/J, but rather the amount of time it will take to move from one version of OpenOffice to another. There are many code differences between the 1.1 and 2.0 versions of OpenOffice.

The current HEAD version is a work-in-progress that moves the Java version from 1.3.1 to 1.4.2. It is by no means completely done, and any builds from this code should be handled as Alpha level and not used in a production environment. Patrick is taking a few well deserved days off of working on the code.

This version is based on the last 1.1 release, 1.1.4, as was the released version of Neo/J. I am working on integrating the code from 1.1.5rc4, which includes the ability to read, but not write, OpenDocument (ODT) files. Incorporating this capability should be very straightforward, but may take some time and effort.

Just a note: SRX645_m58 (aka: 1.1.5 rc 5) was released today. I will be moving to that version soon as I finish a clean build for X11. It still does not contain the fixes proposed by Patrick.

I would like to welcome you to the Neo/J build/tinderbox effort.
