I’m very excited today My co-worker Anders Carlsson has spent the last two months with starting a port of GTK+ to the Mac OS X Cocoa framework, so GTK+ applications will eventually run natively (without needing X11) on that platform.

ha ok, because I thought under X11 and Linux OpenOffice used GTK. So it will not change nothing for you.
That's a good news anyway _________________ iMac G5 20" 1,8 Ghz Mac OS X 10.4.8

Yeah, the X11 stuff doesn't actually use GTK as its toolkit. What OOo does is use GTK to render button backgrounds and the like. That's the "native widget framework" that you'll see me talking about. The irony, though, is that it really isn't using fully native widgets, rather just giving them the right look and feel for the underlying GTK/Qt/Luna theme in use on the platform.
Michael and some of the Sun guys were going to be working on adapting a new canvas layout, but I doubt things will get to the point of a full GTK+pango style combination without some serious heavy lifting.
