Patrick,
I notice that you've been chipping away at the bug reports. When should we expect a new bundle?
Will Java 1.4.1 be supported. Perhaps it will improve performance. Can you make Neo/J check for the presence of 1.4.1 and use 1.3.1 if not available? |

I have one more thing to fix that affects printing and then I thought that I'd put out a testing patch that has all of the bug fixes in it.
After that (hopefully later this month), I'll spin an 0.7.1 release that has the new patches.

No. Java 1.4.1 has some serious problems when used in the OOo code. Its use of Cocoa made it much less stable than 1.3.1. Migrating to 1.4.1 will take a lot of time (I already wasted two solid weeks figuring out a workaround for the Cocoa crashing problems) and so I have no plans to migrate anytime soon.
As for 1.3.1, OOo and NeoJ on Mac OS X explicitly load the highest available 1.3 JVM but will not load the 1.4.1 JVM due to the many 1.4.1 issues.

OUCH!
That's too bad, especially in light of the SIGNIFICANT performance improvements that you reported in the Dev. forum.
I was really looking forward to Neo/J being useful on my older 400 MHz iMac. |
