I have been using openoffice under linux for years but am now switching to mac os x. Have installed x11 and openoffice, but all my old presentations now look very bad on the screen. Standard fonts under linux like Times New Roman or Nimbus Roman No9 L do not appear nice at all. I can find some advice on various pages on how to use mac os fonts but how do I get all my old presentations to work? Font replacement could maybe work but it may not be ideal because small changes in font size etc tend to screw up slides (arrows do suddenly not point to the right words etc.).
Any help is appreciated.
Before heading down the font substitution route, you may like to download a copy of NeoOffice (plus latest released patch), which offers an alternative (and nearer-to-native) path to OpenOffice.org Nirvana on Mac OSX. No need to un-install your current X11 version as the two will happily co-exist on your computer.
You may find that your current font issues are miraculously reduced as NeoOffice uses the true native Mac fonts, rather than any fondu-converted versions (as I understand the X11 version path follows). On the other hand, you may find that there is no significant difference.
Either way, your feedback here in this thread thereafter will help others, like me, to be better informed about some of the cross-platform interchange issues that may be encountered.
Trust this suggestions helps, in the absence of suggestions from other respondents! _________________ Ray Saunders

I have both of these and the same problems with fonts. The same spreadsheet looks like crap in X11 as it looks fine in NeoOffice. The font issue is puzzling to me.
