I am having trouble with disappearing text in the presentation program. The presentations are downloaded in ppt format. The text boxes appear in the "design" function, but disappear in the presentation function. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? |

This is the first time I've heard of this problem. Can you tell us exactly the steps you take to create this error? Also, what version of Microsoft Office is used to create the PowerPoint slides?

would it be possible for you to upload the file somewhere so some of us can look at it?
some random guesses (for which i am full of)
are the boxes 'on top'? i know PPT can do layers and arrange them (move to bottom, move to top, etc), so make sure they are the top most layer.
are there animations?
backgrounds? |

I have tried playing with the animations and the backgrounds, but those don't seem to help. I would be happy to send a couple examples to you somehow. I am not sure the best way to do that though. Please let me know how I can help. |

The normal way would be to file a bug in bugzilla and attach the respective file. But bugzilla seems to be off at the moment. I am not sure if I personally can help. Someone with more knowledge could perhaps let you send the file to him/her.
Btw did you try bringing the texts to foreground? (you only speak about playing with backgrounds and animations)

I finally was able to get the text to appear in presentation mode by messing with the animation settings. I apparently forgot to click the green check button to make the no effect setting stick. However, is there any faster way to remove all the animations because it is a pain to go through and remove the settings from each text box individually. Thanks. |

So is this something that I still need to post to bugzilla, or is this something that I have just overlooked the button to undo all animations somewhere? |

for now i'd say no to bugzilla. it sounds like it is specific to just this presentation (being ported from MS PPT)
however, we'll keep our eyes out for similar problems. If there is one, it would most likely get entered into the openoffice.org issue tracker thingy, since it is an import problem.
