You may consider buying some additional memory. You might be able to find that on ebay or in a specialist shop even for a few dozen $$.
If you add 256 or 512 MB, you will find every aspect of your mac will speed up dramatically.
I am surprised it is even usuable as it is...
Best wishes,

I had a whole bunch of music on it but I had to delete it all when I installed NeoOffice. So would I do a search on eBay for memory for a PowerBook? It is kinda slow, but I can stand it. I'm just not patient enough to wait half and hour for NeoOffice to come up. _________________ goatgirl92 |

if memory serves me right, i don't think you'll be able to get 512 in those older powerbooks. But I would try, every meg helps. =)
otherworld computing is the place to go for RAM, they are set up so you know you get the right kind. (wrong kind = badness)

I was looking around on that site you gave me I clicked on memory and it asked me what model. I clicked PowerBook G3/G4. How do I tell which version of the G3 I own? it has G3 2000 Pismo, 1999 Bronze/Lombard, and 1998 Wallstreet. It also has PowerBook 3500/ PowerBook G3 "Kanga" How do I tell which model I have? _________________ goatgirl92 |

on the bottom there is a scan bar thingy.
under that, it should say what it is.
if you need more information, the year should be on the opposite side of the bottom.
the everymac.com site can help once you have that information. =)
p.s. don't worry about viruses, btw, there aren't any for macs. |

Don't get short with me, but all it says is 'Apple PowerBook G3 Series' So does that mean I can use any of those? _________________ goatgirl92 |

Ok, here's exactly what it says on the bottom.
Macintosh PowerBook G3 Series
400Mhz/1MB Cache/64MB/ 6GB HD/8MB Video/DVD
There's a copyright date on the bottom that says 1999 so could it possibly be a 1999 Bronze/Lombard? [/i] _________________ goatgirl92 |

64 MB isn't enough for Mac OS X either. The minimum requirement for 10.2 is 128 MB, and even then it won't be fast. If you want NeoOffice to be usable productively, you need at least 256 MB of RAM.
Regarding your internet issue, you can set up your connection manually, it's not too difficult, and learning how to do that could be useful if you came to lose your setup CD (for example). Moreover, Mac OS X is immune to OS 9 and Windows viruses, and OS X viruses aren't enough of a threat to prevent anyone from connecting a Mac to the net ... |

for example, your maximum RAM is 384 Megs. |
