Patrick, you should charge 1 USD per download.. Downloads would slow down (and your costs too!) and it would also give you a decent and deserved pay!
We originally talked about something like that (I can't remember which forum topic) but we ended trying something a bit simpler and we came up with the Early Access Program.
The Early Access Program has actually been quite good from two angles:
1. I've been able to raise about double to the donations that I usually get so I might actually not lose any money supporting the Neo 2.0 Alpha PowerPC release.
2. The number of people that have signed up for the Early Access Program so far is a very small number of people (i.e. around 100) which has enabled me to focus on handling the most critical bugs quickly before a huge number of people starting using Neo 2.0 Alpha. In other words, the EAP members get much higher support levels than I can normally provide for free downloads and since I can fix things earlier, hopefully I can free up time after EAP ends to work on the Intel release.

Hopefully folk have been able to notice the turnaround time Patrick's had during the process. Sometimes he's been able to get test patches to folks in less than a day I for one really appreciate the effort since it's even better support than you can get from some real companies (anyone got an IE complaint sitting around, for instance?)

Patrick, Ed,
I'm very happy that EAP has provided some resources to cover you NeoOffice 2.0 PPC Alpha release. Thanks for providing some numbers.
This is exciting news!
With the limit number of EAP users/subscriptions the bug reporting AND FIXING has been amazingly F A S T. I have never seen another application that has made so much progress. I'm so happy with NeoOffice 2.OH! that I could just ... burst with joy!
Glad this is working and maybe it will build a foundation of increased support for the Intel efforts? I sure hope so. I have set aside my next subscrition funds (I'm going for the full NeoOffice 2.x version next time )
Bother question, Can you handle EAP upgrades?? I got $75US that is buring a hole in my pocket....
It's a joy to use NeoOffice, AND support the excellent community!

I deleted the dup post for ya
I've actually seen the server go goofy on me once today as well...there's definitely been an uptick in the number of registered folk who are stopping by, so I wonder if that might be the cause?
Keep an eye out for more errors. If you see an error page pop up, please copy its contents if you can and post them in fuzkd servers so I can try to track down what's causing them. I suspect database connect timeouts, but that's just something I pulled out of my bum that sounds plausible.
