|
Hello,
We are testing NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha for the use in public school in Geneva (Switzerland), in replacement of NeoOffice 1.2 and it works great. Just two questions.
After 23.5,
- will NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha be in other languages, like french ?
- will NeoOffice 2.0 Alpha be stable enough to be use in schools
Thanks for your answer

At the end of EAP, the language packs will be made available as well as the core English install binary.
We're really not in a position to make any claims about the stability of any "alpha" or "beta" release...those qualifiers are really on there because we don't feel the software has received enough testing for us to claim it to be "stable".
As with any alpha or beta software, it's always recommended to stick with "Final" if you absolutely require the best known stability. If you're going to roll out an alpha or beta software package, it's best to do it in a limited testing situation first to see if there are major issues that would be encountered in your day-to-day use.
Additionally, while software is in "alpha" or "beta", development is ongoing and frequent so patches to fix bugs will be issued much more frequently, sometimes on a bi-weekly or even weekly basis. This is another factor you may want to consider before wide deployment of an alpha or beta release.

Language packs are available now on the Early Access Downloads page.

Oh yeah, good point. I was trying to point out that both the main dimage and language packs from EAP will all be available
Patrick may or may not spin a new main dimage to get all the bugfixes from the EAP patches in there. I think that's still up in the air.

I definitely will spin a new installer for the start of the $10 EAP next week as a lot of bugs were fixed in the last 2 weeks. I'll call it Neo 2.0 Alpha 2 PowerPC and I will post a patch for existing EAP members.
