The VideoLAN people are making a set of Java bindings for VLC. Given that VLC plays a lot of different media, it could be a way of bringing plugin support to NeoOffice.

Not a trivial task, I know, and also likely to bloat Neo a bit more, but I figured I would leave a pointer.
