Rays,

Very nice post. Just the kind of Real, accurate, Official media announcement that should be made.

and THANK YOU so very much for hosting the NeoOffice Open house. It is very generous of you and your organization.
Thank You, THANK You, THANK YOU! Laughing

sigh. you know i am starting to be a bit worried for the oo.o porting team.

eric is making lots of promises, there is a lot of news. there had better be a product and not just a 'tech demo' people are going to expect at least alpha level downloads soon.

Ditto

I hope that new Users expectations are not raised to high. The Mac user crowd tend to have Very High expectations / requirements and it's probably not a good idea to let them get to high! Shocked
I have done end user support for many, many years and I found that's it important to "manage" user expectations. Better to under-promise and over-deliver. Rolling Eyes

Whatever happens "I" just want new users to be able to access OOo on all platforms - and come away with a good experience!

<edit URL from MarWorld to MacObserver>
MacObserver - Same vague OOo/aqua statements as the other news articles.

It's funny to see:
1. People who have NO idea of what efforts are required to port an application like OOo - make ... Wild statements (aka WAG's). There does seem to be more replys that say "if you can do better - you are welcome to try!". Rolling Eyes Kinda like saying: "Put up, or Shut Up!"

2. That happy Neo users keep responding on these threads that NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua (Beta) is here, now, works, and is getting better all the time. Laughing

Philip ( history will provide us with the answers! Wink )

ACK,

I swear that it was another OOo/aqua article when I looked at it (found the link on the Mac:porting list.
Do you think that all this ... excitment has overwhelmed my brains?!? Embarassed

Sorry, It's MacObserver

Philip ( thinks he has to may tabs open in SeaMonkey! Confused )

<added - Now the Mac:porting list is discussing putting out a more detailed announcment. Good for them! >

Lackluster reporting all aside (which I believe it is all there is since there seems to be no solution in the code for neither printing nor the XOR problem, two of the most difficult to solve) I do wish them luck. It would be nifty to see a CG implementation that has those bugs worked out for which neither Dan nor I could find solutions.

These are tough problems to solve. Granted, Patrick and I have already solved them, but as an engineer I'm always curious in alternative solutions. Who knows...a combination of both approaches may provide an even yet better solution than what we have now (but our approach already faster than snot on Intel Macs, so how much does just removing one layer of indirection in the OS libraries really improve overall performance since function calls are pretty trivial in the overall scheme of things Question )

NeoOffice 2.0 - faster than snot on Intel Macs

Certainly does have a ring to it. Rather catchy. Might use it in the intro to Ed at our event on Friday. Twisted Evil
