There's a unix command line client aria2 now, and a beta of Speed Download that supports this.

| I believe aria2, a command line util will also work as long as its compiled w/ libxml2 which this appears to be. |

should download whichever version you want. These could be combined in one metalink, and downloaded w/ the --metalink-os=xxxx switch so you could get PPC or Intel versions from the same metalink. |
