I just wrote this article for Mac OS X users who want to use OpenOffice to create structured PDF documents using the extendedPDF macro and Adobe Acrobat Distiller:
Thanks for all the useful information! I have just glanced through it, and I will come back to it for more thorough reading.
The one, for me, really new information was the libfreetype section. What I have most against the X11 implementation of OOo is the inaccurate font rendering — and here I find the answer. But being a noviece on unix, can you elaborate some on the exact wording of what I have to enter in the terminal in order unpack/install the libfreetype archive you had a link to. I have it downloaded, but I am uncertain on the next steps.
I have successfulle patched my NeoJ-versions following Pluby's instructions on the NeoJ site, so I am not completely unfamiliar with using the terminal and feel adventurous enough to attempt changing the libfreetype-library.
