I already install the latest j2se 6.0
java version "1.6.0-dp"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0-dp-b88-34)
Java HotSpot(TM) Core VM (build 1.6.0-b88-17-release, interpreted mode, sharing)
But NeoOffice 2.1 installation program still complaint that my java version is too old, how can I get rid of this error message? |

You have obviously messed with your Java installation to make Java 1.6 the default Java as Apple never sets Java 1.6 as the default JVM. This message shows that our installer has detected that you have messed with it and is why it won't install.
Solution: restore your Java installation to the state that Apple's Java 1.6 installer set it to. Apple specifically warns against messing with the JVM's installation files (you did read the README that they post, right?) and we only support the stock Apple JVM installation.

I already re-run the installation of java 1.6, but I still get that error message, is it possible to just skip that checking? |

Rerunning Apple's installer won't correct any previous messing that you did to the JVM.
We only support Apple's 1.4.2 and 1.5.0 JVMs, not Developer Preview versions so if you want to run NeoOffice, you have two choices:
1. Fix your OS. If you messed it up, you are going to need to clean it up and the fact that you have Java 1.6 as the default JVM strongly indicates that you have messed it up.
- or -
2. Build NeoOffice yourself and tweak the installer. However, if your build crashes, don't be surprised when we close your bugs when we see Java 1.6 in your crash log.

Patrick | I think the key thing here is that NeoOffice will NOT run/install if your system has Apple's Developer Preview 1.6 JVM as the "DEFAULT" JVM.
It was my understanding that the Developer Preview does NOT set 1.6 JVM as the default for the whole system. Something changed that on your system. As long as that is true, NeoOffice will not install.
There are so many variables that 1.6 JVM is not supported for NeoOffice.
Many in the future, after Apple releases it to the public - AND it gets detailed real world testing....

In fact I really confuse about this, I use NeoOffice 1.2 and it work very nice. Probably the time I install this I don't have 1.6 install, but it work ok until now. I really hope that I can have a version of installer that just allow me to skip the the checking so that I can just try it. |

See this thread for some details on how to switch things around. If you were manually changing symlinks, you'll need to change them back.
We do not support running with Java 1.6 and won't for some time. This is why we do not allow installation using this Java version.

Have take a look of that thread... still not sure why NeoOffice 1.3 run ok at 1.6 but not 2.1. However, it is fine, as 1.3 work very good at my machine, may be I just keep on using that for now |

Ahhhhh!!!, that's blasphemous talk around these parts. You are hereby ordered to upgrade to Neo 2.1 immediately!!!! (j/k, just kidding)

NeoOffice 1.2 (not 1.3) will use Java 1.4 at runtime, no matter which JVM is the default. There were several bugs that prevented Neo 1.2 from being usable with Java 1.5, and I imagine it'd be even worse with 1.6. |

You'll need to flip your default Java version back to 1.4 or 1.5 for the installer to work. This is on purpose and it's reasonable to expect people playing with developer prerelease software from Apple to be able to either read the Apple release notes for the instructions on how to do this or to be able to undo whatever symlinking they've done into the various Java frameworks.
Neo does not run on Java 1.6. Only Java 1.5 and 1.4.
