NeoOffice is wonderful--just superb. Runs beautifully on my Mac OS X 10.5. But your choice of icon is questionable. What's with this galleon bounding over the Spanish main, or maybe the Pilgrims' Mayflower late for Thanksgiving? May I suggest a better choice: I made an icon out of one of Robert Cottingham's paintings of an antique typewriter. I can't upload the icon to this forum or I'd show it to you, but the original paintings are at Forum Gallery. If you asked I'm sure he'd be flattered to have one of his iconic typewriters grace your excellent software. http://www.forumgallery.com/current_off1.php?id=102 |

There has been plenty of discussion over the years about the NeoOffice icon - take a look at this thread and the thread it links to for the background on this choice of logo.
Yours is a kind offer, but most people do like the icon the way it is - I also think personally that a typewriter wouldn't reflect the calc/math/presentation/draw/db capabilities of NeoOffice, and would imply that it's just a word processor, but I am biased because I am myself very fond of that little ship-in-a-bubble on my dock.
I'm glad you're enjoying NeoOffice, and I hope the icon doesn't keep you awake at night...

The icon itself reminds me of the Office:mac icons, rather than the Windows logo. But all this black |

I think they are very beautiful but the design is too much MS Office wannabe. |

That ship! Love it or hate it, it's not going anywhere. |

You know I actually think that splashscreen one looks very cool! But, it's not like the splashscreen is there for long to look at, and I actually love the ship anyway.
Some people might not quite understand the ship, but when it comes to confusing icons, does anybody else use Handbrake (another wonderful open source app)? The most random name and icon award belongs to them!

It wasn't always that we could say that Another testament to Moore's Law...and Patrick's dedicated work!

Several years ago I started working on a page discussing the history of the ship and the NeoOffice imagery/iconography...I really need to dig it up and just post the stuff to the wiki....

The Neo ship also did win an icon award from MacAddict IIRC (though it may be different). I think I have the magazine in my little Neo article collection and can dig it up
