|
As a relatively new NeoOffice user (If you'll excuse the redundancy), I am a fairly frequent visitor to the support forum. I can find myself searching frantically for help on a particular function in Writer that may also be mentioned in Calc or another part of the suite. Today it was bullets and numbering. How many places do they come up?
An idea occurred - suppose we prefaced our subject with the relevant part of the suite we were asking about.
Those who are more expert in that area would get the message more quickly, and those of us searching could ignore the posts that don't seem relevant.
I've already started marking my posts 'solved' when I've got an answer that works. It seemed to me that someone searching would find it useful to know that this question has an answer as well as a lot of helpful suggestions.
How do others feel about this? |

I'm open to any ideas on how to improve the utility of the support forums. Another idea that has come up has been to split up and have different forums for each major application component. That's closer to how oooforum is organized, but I think last time this came up we thought it was easier to keep everything in one support forum.

Um - that was me, again. And that was the consensus.
Thanks for answering |

My feeling is that the more that title narrows down what the problem area is, the better. Of course, since many of our posts are from new posters we likely will always see lots of non-descriptive topic titles, but don't wait for us to try out your idea. Start doing it and see if it catches on. If it is a good idea, I would bet that other posters will start using it as well.

We could also post that suggestion in the sticky topic in Support....

As one of the moderators, I'll try to keep my eye out for subject lines that need clarification in this respect and edit titles accordingly. No promises I'll get them all, though.
