If you are unable to properly read or write Microsoft Office documents, please check if you are using the new Office 2007/2008 OOXML formats. These can be identified by extensions of .docx, .xlsx and .pptx.
NeoOffice uses an experimental filter for these formats which is not yet able to translate all of the features in these documents. To avoid these problems, we strongly suggest that you save your document in the Office 97/2000/X/2003/2004 formats, with the extensions of .doc, .xls and .ppt.
There are many people who do not have Office 2007 (PC) or Office 2008 (Mac) and will therefore not be able to read your document if you save it in the new format. The legacy MS formats of .doc, .xls and .ppt are the most widespread and widely supported formats in the world at this time.
If you need only to exchange documents with NeoOffice, OpenOffice, StarOffice, Google Docs or Lotus Symphony users, we suggest you use the OpenDocument format instead, with the extensions of .odt, .ods and .odp, as this format is the most likely to preserve the formatting of your document. |
