Some Job Search sites have a max resume size of 100KB. NeoOffice won't save in .doc format in less than 104KB. Any ideas? |

Although NeoOffice is capable of saving in .doc formats and keep most formatting, it does tend to create files much bigger than they would be if they were saved in MS Office. This is because of the file converters that are used and little can be done about it unfortunately.
However, you may be able save the document as an RTF instead. This is a format easily read by virtually all office apps. Try saving in this format and see if it keeps your formatting correctly.
Bear in mind, RTF is Rich Text Format - it doesn't support images but I assume a resume won't have images in it?
I hope this is of some help to you!
Good luck.
Rich

Thank you, Rich. The .rtf file is 24KB. I'll email it to myself at the office so I can verify that MS Word opens it without incident. ![Very Happy](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

I found out something today while trying out OpenOffice.org 3.0.
Saving files as Word documents results in a much smaller file than it did with OpenOffice.org 2.x (or NeoOffice 2.2.5).
So if you absolutely have to use the .doc format, OOo 3.0 will probably make the file small enough for you, and when NeoOffice 3.0 comes out (next month for Early Access members and January to the rest of the world) it too should benefit from this improvement.
