Does anyone know how to export an animated gif? I only get a static gif when I export. With the previous version I had no trouble. Thanks - antonio |

What version are you using now? Can you select the Help :: About NeoOffice menu and tell us what version you are using?

In addition to the current and previous version could you please let us know the exact steps we need to use to reproduce this? What file format are you exporting from and to?
thanks --fran |

I am using version 2.2.5 Patch 6. From within Impress I create an animated object successfully as instructed in the manual. Then selecting it (only the animated object) I export it to a GIFF format. When viewed in Safari it remains static - the animation does not occur. I have done this in an older version (exactly the same way) with no problems. I believe that I am doing everything okay, but that there is an error when Impress exports it into the Gif. Thanks for the help. Antonio. |

Thank you for providing us with some more information.
Unfortunately, this is a regression bug in OpenOffice.org, Issue 81610. It is present in OpenOffice.org 2.2.1 which NeoOffice 2.2.5 is based on. Export of gif animation did work in OpenOffice.org 2.1, which NeoOffice 2.1 was based on. This expains why the same steps worked for you in a previous version of NeoOffice, but not in NeoOffice 2.2.5. I also tried to export a gif in NeoOffice 3.0 Early Access 2, but the bug is still present.
If the OpenOffice.org developers fix the bug, the new behavior will be included in a future release of NeoOffice.

Edited to add: I forgot to mention this, but there is a workaround in the bug comments: Quote: | Easy workaround: extract the GIF file from the .odp archive using unzip or other
archive utility. The resulting image file is intact and works fine. |

Thanks for the info. I will try that. Do you happen to know of a good shareware to create animated gifs? I haven't had much luck. Keep up the good work. |
