|
I have installed writer's tools 1.1.3 the same days on an Imac C2D 2ghz (10.5) and on my G4 MMD (10.4)…
IF I check Extensions update on the Imac Writer's Tools is detected and installed… but not on my PPC… (both With French Langage pack…). _________________ Patrick G4 2x867, 2 Go, 10.4.11...

Just to make sure: The writing tools are not part of the language pack. That only contain localisations for the interface.
The writing tools can be downloaded and installed separately as extensions.
Best wishes,

yes… it install a special "Writer's tools menu" between Tools and Window…
On the Imac Writer's Tools could be updated from Tools/extensions… menu…
update (1.3.3. -> 1.3.5) found and installed
On my G4 MMD no update detected (from 1.3.3.) I had to update manually…

One the Intel machine, how do you trigger the automatic update for Writer's Tools?
Do Writer's Tools work for you in NeoOffice?

Writer's Tools works on both machine…
To get the update … I used Outils/Gestionnaire des Extensions… bouton" vérifier les mises à jour"… (Tools/Extensions Manager…/ "check for update"…)
On Intel & 10.5 update found and installed…
on PPC & 10.5 no update found _________________ Patrick G4 2x867, 2 Go, 10.4.11... |

I cannot reproduce this with their latest version 1.3.5. Since 1.3.3 was not available, I downloaded version 1.3.5, unzipped the .oxt file, changed the version to 1.3.3, rezipped and installed the .oxt using NeoOffice 3.0's Tools :: Extension Manager menu. When I pressed the Check for Updates button on my PowerPC machine, WriterTools 1.3.5 was shown as the available update.
I suspect that the Writer Tools' 1.3.3 .oxt points to an update check website that is different than the 1.3.5 .oxt file does as NeoOffice does not decide whether there is an update or not. Instead, NeoOffice's underlying OpenOffice.org code merely contacts the update check website that the Writer Tools extension specifies and that website returns data that indicates that there is an update available or not.

There is a new Writer's Tools (1.3.7) no problem with Imac Intel 1O.5… update not detected on my PPC 10.4… ("An error occurred:
Not found!" when "Show all upgates" checked).
Patch 1 installed on both…
By the way where the upates are installed? (It did not seem to be in the same folder…) _________________ Patrick G4 2x867, 2 Go, 10.4.11... |

On your PowerPC machine, can you select the Tools :: Extension Manager menu? Does the Writer's Tools extensions have a lock icon next to it? If so, that would explain why you see no updates.
The lock indicates that you installed the extension as a shared extension using the unopkg.bin Terminal command. Such shared extensions have read-only files so you cannot install an upgrade for them in the Tools :: Extension Manager dialog. Since they are read-only, the update check will skip any shared extensions.

Since I don't get any errors when I press the Check for Updates button, I suspect that Littlesnitch isn't modifying the bits that NeoOffice sends to the website. Littlesnitch may allows NeoOffice to connect to their website, that does not mean that Littlesnitch does not modify what is sent.
Can you try turning Littlesnitch completely off? Do you still get the 400 error from their website?
If you still get the error, what version of Writer's Tools do you have installed? I have version 1.5.1 installed.

OK. If you are getting a 400 bad request with 1.3.9 and not with 1.5.1, that indicates that the Writer's Tools website is having errors. I suspect that the update URL that the Writer's Tools authors specified in their extension is no longer active and they are using a different URL for 1.5.1.
Do you have any problems when 1.5.1 is installed?

I tried to reproduce this and found that "Check for Updates" does find Writer's Tools Version 1.5.1. The error message appears when attempting to install the extension.
Here are the steps to reproduce:
1. Download and install Writer's Tools 1.3.9.
2. In NeoOffice select Tools :: Extension Manager menu.
3. Press the "Check for Updates" button. Writer's Tools Version 1.5.1 will appear in the Available extension updates box.
4. Press the Install button. The "Server error message: 400 Bad Request" error message appears.
I am able to manually download and install Writer's Tools Version 1.5.1.
