I encountered this bug again this morning but this time while dragging a PDF file into a Writer document while it was opening.
I have fixed this latest deadlock and posted links to both NeoOffice 2.2.5 and NeoOffice 3.0 test patches in my last post in bug 3425.
Can you install the test patch and tell us if the bug is still fixed for you?

Patrick:
Neo hung on me again today. I'm using NeoOffice 3.0, with test patch 3, on a 10.4.11 PPC machine.
I was trying to print, but the print command never made it to the printer driver. I had just quit and restarted Neo due to problems printing envelopes. (I still don't know if that was Neo or a printer issue).
Sample attached

I think that I fixed this latest deadlocking by removing any synchronization on the Component.getTreeLock() object that appears to be unnecessary. We had excessive locking in the native menu code to fix crashing in Java when NeoOffice used to use Java 1.3.1.
