Still a weird data entry problem - e.g. in Calc Date Format for a column of cells: choose 31 Dec 99 from the list, which shows DD MMM YY in the edit field below - then put the cursor at the end of the field to remove the ' YY' and as I backspace, the last Y remains and characters to its left get deleted instead.

I split this off into its own topic since it appears to be a separate issue.
I can reproduce this in NeoOffice 3.0 and NeoOffice 2.2.5, but not in OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 and will open a bug to track the issue.

I have opened bug 3494 to track this issue. When there is an update to the bug it will be posted here.
I found that all date formats are affected. If the format is YYYY-MM-DD the D (the left-most character) remains as others are deleted.

I found the cause of this bug and it is a side effect of my fix for bug 3478.
I have reworked my fix for bug 3478 and I am testing it to make sure that bug 3478 and related bugs don't come back. Once I finish my testing, I should have a test patch out by this Sunday.

FYI: Patrick found the bug I opened in this forum topic is a duplicate of the one I opened here.

I believe this happening to non-date fields as well. I was updating the data range in a graph to show new data added. I positioned the cursor just the right of the digit I wanted to change and using the backspace key to change the last digit of an entry causes all sorts of grief. The forward delete key acts correctly like the backspace key should. |

LarryfromVA,
Did you download and install the test patch that pluby listed in his previous post? If not, can you try installing the test patch and let us know if that fixes it.

I just installed the test patch and both the backspace and Delete keys work as advertised when updating values in graph data ranges. The patch seems to work.
THANKS!!

Using Patch 4 original, I would search in Calc and when it came back the search box was highlighted but only for the non-space chars. It worked correctly, just looked ugly.
Deleting as noted elsewhere dragged in the last char of the line and made it hard to know what you were doing. Again bad for looks but probably working.
Thanks for keeping after these changes so we don't have to unwind the version.
