I just upgraded to OS 10.6 Snow Leopard, and now when I try to open NeoOffice (version 3.0) it does not start. It bounces in the dock for a while but then it just stops. What's the problem? |

According to The neowiki page on Snow Leopard issues, it looks like NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access is required for Snow Leopard.
NeoOffice 3.0 (at least at some patch level) had experimental support for Snow Leopard, but as I understand it, the final version of Snow Leopard broke that support.
You can get NeoOffice 3.0.1 Early Access now for a donation of $25 or more, or you can wait until October 27, when it will be available for free.

Well, I've got Neo 3.0.1 EA p1 working just fine on a new iMac running 10.5.8 (Leopard). Now, that Leopard installation has all the extras installed except the language packs. (Also got Neo 3.0.1 EAp1 running on my MacBook under 10.6.1.) _________________ Jim Plante

AFAIK, 3.0 should run under Snow Leopard after installing patch 7:
http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/patch.php
But of course, all the issues that were fixed in 3.0.1 Early Access will still be present in 3.0 Patch 7.
If you aren't part of the Early Access program, you will get thoise fixes in NeoOffice 3.0.1, currently scheduled for 27 October 2009. |

I have just installed Neooffice successfully on a new iMac with Snow Leopard. It does not start. Any ideas? |

To get the version, can you go the Finder's Applications folder, Control-click on the NeoOffice icon, and select Get Info from the popup menu that appears. A window will appear. What does the "Version" field in the General section say?

In addition to the NeoOffice version, can you also attach the last crash log? When NeoOffice fails to start, what is happening is that NeoOffice is crashing during startup and Mac OS X should automatically save a crash log. In many cases, we can identify the cause of the problem by looking at the crash log.
You can obtain the last crash log by following the steps in the "Option B" seciton of this NeoWiki article.
Once you find the crash log, you can attach it to this forum topic using the steps in this post.
