Whilst I admire the hours they have spent designing pretty splash screens and icon themes I think they have a big task ahead of them. Very nice homepage layout too, though not much content beyond that! Good luck to them. |

So I went to the site and clicked on the big seagull that is holding a coin and saw this as the heading on the page:
Quote: | EducOOo Ass Education OpenOffice.org |
That should get some attention!

Methinks they will need to restrict the editing privileges...
Best wishes,

My feeling is that ass somehow stands for "association" (i.e. "Educ OOo, Association Education OpenOffice.org"). Still,

Kids should not be slaving away in front of PowerPoint making useless "art" to get a grade or attempt to be cool; they should be out playing or reading or exploring the wonders of the national parks and the world or having a crush on whatever girl they dig...
We've already got an entire generation of powerpoint drones to make animated transitions and 3D charts to wow ourselves to death...we don't need our kids to become the same.
Let kids be kids. Let them evolve to find either the free spirit in them or the geeky nerd who *wants* to lounge in front of a computer and start on the path of wonder and amazement of learning how it works.
Education should always be about a "becoming" and providing options and choices, never about making clever cartoons to entice impressionable kids to adopt "the way". Propaganda and indoctrination are always evil, no matter how noble their aims.

Hmm... geek gender stereotyping much? Or do you think all girl geeks are lesbians? |

If past experience is anything to go by, they are in for an acrimonious ride .
