|
Hello,
I want to report a possible bug. I use NeoOffice 3.0.1 Patch 1 (under Snow Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6.2)
It seems that NeoOffice cannot save the last note. The note bubble is there, but without any content. I must write one more fictive note in order to save the last real note.
Can you check this out?
Kind regards,
Aleksandar |

I have also noticed that the last note is saved only if one continues to write afterwards new changes in the document. |

Can you tell us the steps to do to reproduce this bug? I am having trouble reproducing it so I assume that I am using the wrong step at some point.

Here are the steps:
1) Simply create a new blank document.
2) Write a sentence.
3) Insert a note by choosing from Insert meny <Note>.
4) Write something in it (in the buble).
After writing the note, you will see the note buble with the content.
5) Save the document
6) Close it.
7) Open the saved document
Can you see the note? I only see the note buble, but without content; see the attachment.
Kind regards,
Alex |

If you now write again something in the note bubble, and afterwards make further changes in the document, such as writing new sentences, the note will be saved if you save the document. However, the note will not be saved at the saving of the document if making the note is the last change in the document. All text in the note bubble will dissapear at the closing of the document. |

Thank you for the steps and the sample document. I will see if I can reproduce this issue. I will also check and see if I can reproduce this in OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 (the version that NeoOffice 3.0.1 is based on) and OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 (their latest version). I will post later today with what I find.

I have some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that I can reproduce this is both NeoOffice 3.0.1 and OpenOffice.org 3.0.1 so this is definitely an OpenOffice.org bug. The bug does not occur in OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 so it appears that the OpenOffice.org engineers fixed it in their latest version so when we upgrade NeoOffice to the OpenOffice.org 3.2.x code in the first half of 2010, we will get their fix.
The good news is that while we won't be able to get OpenOffice.org's fix for several more months, I found a workaround that will stop this bug from occurring. The bug only occurs when you leave the cursor in the note so if you move the cursor back into the document's main text and then save, the note text should be saved correctly.
Does the workaround that I found for this OpenOffice.org bug work for you?
