Question.
One of the big changes from SO5.2 to SO6.0 was the separation of the programs. OO.o for the other platforms have this separation, but the X11 port doesn't. Is there a way to set it up so it does? or is this a trade off to get the program ported to MacOSX?

Unfortunately there really isn't any "separation" in any of the SO 6/OOo 1.x ine. Underneath it's still a "monolithic" application, just a bunch of shared libraries. On other platforms there's a "cheat" which makes it look like three separate apps...instead of "soffice" there are scripts like "sdraw", "swriter", and "scalc" which simply choose between which component is loaded by default to create the first blank document (SO 5.2 would always open to the unified desktop interface). If you look at the scripts, they actually all just call right through to "soffice" with special options.
The easiest way to do that split is with the "New" menu of Start OpenOffice.org which does dispatch to the different document types. If you're using the command line or other way to launch OOo, you can just split the single "soffice" command into the three commands listed above.
