|
In my 3.0.2 EA test build (on 10.5.8 Intel), I've just realized the Window menu isn't working properly, in that selecting a window from the menu doesn't bring forward (or unminimize, if it's been minimized to the Dock) that window.
STR:
1) Open two documents (or create new documents, or some combination thereof)
2) Select the one that's not active from the Window menu
--> Nothing happens
3) Cmd-` to rotate the non-active window to the front
4) Select the other window from the Window menu
--> Nothing happens
5) Open a third document (or create a new third one)
6) Select document 1 (the top-most item in the window menu)
--> Nothing happens
7) Select document 2 (second window-item in the list)
--> Document 1 comes forward
If you repeat with more documents, it seems like you're always getting some sort of "off-by-one" error, in that selecting item 4 in the list shows the window for item 3 in the list and so-on.
Selecting the top document always does nothing. If document 1 is the focused document, selecting document 2 does nothing, since n-1 is document 1, which is already focused; if document 1 is not focused, selecting document 2 focused document 1 (2-1=1). Selecting document 3 focuses document 2, an so forth.
I actually noticed this yesterday, but I didn't realize it until the same thing happened tonight
Is this fallout from the hidden window changes?

I have noticed this in my (second) test build as well on 10.4.11 PPC. I am currently downloading the third build. (Which also exhibits the problem.)
Like smokey it took me a while to realise that there was a problem.

Yes. In fact, you will only encounter the bug you describe if you all open document windows first. Closing all open document windows creates the 1 x 1 pixel window.
I will see if I can fix this before we release NeoOffice 3.0.2 Early Access next week.

I have opened bug 3577 to track this.

FYI. I found the cause of this bug and I have fixed it. I only had to duplicate the logic for excluding the 1 x 1 pixel window in OpenOffice.org's menu selection handler code.
I will respin the build with the fix for this bug on 27 December 2009 so that the moderators can double-check that the build installs and runs OK before I release it to Early Access Program members on 29 December.

Thanks everyone. Fran and I are having a very relaxed holiday. We have been enjoying the last couple of days with some of my family from out of town. Fortunately, the weather here in California has been nice and sunny so we have lots of opportunities to get outside to burn off all of that yummy food that I have been eating.
