|
Sorry I can't post a screenshot of this, I'm stuck using phone at the moment:
In a Writer document, insert a frame. Once the frame is made, change focus out of the frame. The frame's corner/side tags persist, some in the wrong places. resize the frame, same thing - old tags persist as well as new ones being drawn.
3.1.1 test beta, OS 10.6.2, intel. |

I'm seeing something very similar on Mac OSX 10.4.11 (PPC).
Only when I resize and click to shift focus, the correct corner/size tags disappear, but the fragments/artifacts remain.

I can reproduce this bug as well and it does not occur in my matching Go-oo build so this is definitely a NeoOffice 3.1.1 Beta bug.
I have created bug 3596 to track this. When I have found the cause and implemented a fix for the bug, I will post an update.

Unfortunately, I have not found the cause of this bug so this bug won't be fixed in time for the NeoOffice 3.1.1 Beta release. However, I will continue working on this bug after the release.
One thing that I have found is that these actually are not artifacts. Instead, the OpenOffice.org code is redrawing the old frame handles with some clipping at the edges after the new handles have been drawn. In other words, the old frame handles are being cleared and redrawn.
Even the problem is that the OpenOffice.org code is redrawing the old handles, I have confirmed that our custom NeoOffice triggers this behavior. The difficulty so far is finding which of our code is the trigger.

I have some bad news: this is actually an OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 bug. Although it is a little more difficult to reproduce the bug in OpenOffice.org 3.1.1, I can reproduce the bug by clicking on the frame and then clicking outside of the frame. After that, the portion of the frame handles inside of the frame border remain.
This OpenOffice.org 3.1.1 bug was fixed in OpenOffice.org 3.2.0 so if I get some spare time, I will see if I can identify which code fixed this bug. If I can identify which code fixed this bug, I will try to backport it into NeoOffice 3.1.1 Beta.

Good news. I found that Oracle's OpenOffice.org engineers fixed this bug in OpenOffice.org 3.2.0 and, fortunately, they posted the specific code changes that they made in this OpenOffice.org issue.
I have backported their bug fix into the NeoOffice 3.1.1 code and it appears to work. I have one other bug to look at and once I finish looking at that other bug, I will post a test patch for you to try.

Patrick,
I get a "page not found" error when I click on the links to both the PPC and Intel patch links. (Can't use the Intel patch--yet!--but thought I should check it when the PPC link didn't work).

OK. I found the problem and the links should now work.

Patrick, not surprisingly, same problem here as noted on the other thread PowerPC dmg contains Intel pkg.
Best wishes

I must have accidentally copied the Intel .dmg file to the PowePC .dmg file at some point. So I reuploaded the test patch and the link should now properly download a PowerPC .dmg file.

FYI. The fix has been included in NeoOffice 3.1.1.
NeoOffice 3.1.1 is currently available for Early Access program members and can be downloaded from the NeoOffice Early Access Program download page.
