|
Hi
Would it be possible to have gradients as well as plain colours for the background of a Calc cell? As a workaround I've created simple gradient-filled rectangles and used them as background graphics, but one click on a gradient would be simpler.

Unfortunately, this is not feasible for us to implement. While painting gradients on the screen might be feasible (although I think that it would be a huge amount of work), the big problem is that it would make NeoOffice files incompatible with the file format that OpenOffice.org expects.
In other words, we would have to store non-standard data in Calc files and since the Calc file format is a standard file format governed, any non-standard changes like what you are requesting would get stripped out of the file when OpenOffice.org or other ODF-enabled applications opened and saved the file.

Many thanks for the prompt reply, Patrick. I hadn't appreciated the problem - but I do still have my rather tedious workaround. Richard |

You can (should, if you want to see it) submit this feature request in the OOo bug tracker; just be sure NOT to mention NeoOffice, as the OOo bug tracker triage people tend to close bugs/feature requests that mention NeoOffice without actually looking at the issue.
