I noticed the "latest registered user" when I loaded the forums right now is "VimaxPillsZXX", which sounds like a spammer-to-be.

I've locked a new thread about godaddy coupons from user Ontotsfaf. I think it's probably spam, but since I have no idea what godaddy coupons might be and it isn't in itself an IP that would lead one to suspect spam, I've not yet deleted the post.

I have deleted that forum topic and disabled Ontotsfaf's account. GoDaddy is a website that sells internet hosting related products so it is definitely spam posting.

I just deleted the one from user Nuchmubscheek, which is the one Samwise was referring to. IP was 155-97-223-67-static.prioritycolo.com

I disabled Nuchmubscheek's account.
I am not a big fan of blocking IP addresses as IP blocking stopped being effective several years ago. Spammers usually no longer use their own computer anymore and, instead, use innocent people's infected computers to proxy their spam through.
A simpler solution is to require a US$1 donation to post to the NeoWiki and Server Outage forums. Seriously, making a donation required to post (even if the minimum donation is very small) has really stopped 99% of the spam so far and what we are seeing now is the really motivated spammers who try every forum until they find one that they can post in.

This solution is now active. No donation, no posting whatsoever.
BTW, I really love watching all the spammers go to the effort of registering only to find that they cannot post. Although probably a small percentage of the non-donor registrations are actually NeoOffice users, my quick review of the usernames and e-mail addresses tells me that the majority of the non-donor registrations are forum spammers.

FYI. I am not sure if any of the spammer registrations are done via automated software but just to be safe I have tweaked the security code CAPTCHA image in the login screen.
This change will not stop manual registrations but it should reduce the number of registrations that use optical character recognition to automate registration of spammer accounts.
