Posted: Fri Apr 30, 2010 10:40 pm Post subject: Calc resize guidelines disappear when resizing selected cols |
|
This seems to have been a surprisingly bug-free EAP but I think I've found another one.
In Calc, open any existing or new document. Select an entire column (e.g. Column D) by clicking on the column header. Now resize the selected column (D) or the adjacent column (e.g., drag the line between E and F towards D and away from D).
The "resize guideline" completely disappears (it actually inverts and becomes white) at certain points in the resize operation, most notably when you're shrinking the selected column. If you're expanding the selected column, the line will reappear (turn black again) at some point.
I've also been able to trigger this by first resizing one of the adjacent columns (e.g., C) to a small width and later dragging the divider between B and C in any direction.
1) This is related to NeoOffice's Mac OS X highlighting feature; it goes away when I disable that feature, because OOo's "invert" highlighting returns
2) The reason the resize guideline sometimes disappears when resizing adjacent columns is that there's some sort of "zone" a certain width on either side of a selected column where the "re-inversion" of the guideline color doesn't appear. This "zone" also doesn't appear with Mac OS X highlighting off (which is odd; I'd not expect the "highlight color" to affect the calculation of when/where to invert/re-invert the color).
3) I don't have 3.0.2 any more (disk space limitations ), but as far as I can recall, it did not happen in 3.0.2; I was very surprised and puzzled when I first noticed it, and it took me a bit to figure out what was going on.
I'm testing 3.1.1 Patch-0-Test-2 on 10.5.8 Intel.

I can reproduce this bug in both NeoOffice 3.0.2 and 3.1.1 Beta so it has apparently been in the code for some time.
I have created bug 3599 to track this bug. I am not sure if I will be able to fix this before NeoOffice 3.1.1 is released, but I will post if I am able to fix it in time for that release.

Yes, the patch fixes the issue for me (3.1.1/10.5.8/Intel)
Thanks again, Patrick!

FYI. The fix for this bug is included in NeoOffice 3.1.1 Patch 1. You can download the patch from the NeoOffice patch download page.
The fix has also been included in NeoOffice 3.0.2 Patch 5 which can be downloaded from here.
